The flow of time expands infinitely, changing its units as it forms endless cycles that repeat to the point of timelessness. Within that unceasing rhythm, there are moments of gradual change — such transformations are what I seek to express through my sculpture. Coinciding with the 30th anniversary of Sanda City, I forged thirty copper rods to create an image of a grove of trees. Though the work now appears like withered trunks, I hope that, as the surface coating weathers away, it will one day—decades from now—be reborn as a verdant grove, its surface covered with a patina of green.
